I don’t know how I feel.
I just finished reading a way too long transmigration story, and at the end, all I can feel is distastefulness. Like, the main character heroine going through the world, fighting evil, marrying her hero emperor husband, and having children was all "Yay! Glad they got together. He really loves her!"
But throughout the story, the main villain was a fellow transmigrator from a different time from her same world. She survived the zombie apocalypse, while the evil transmigrator was a pre-apocalypse college student that views the ancient-style world as being a story and all the people in it are toys for her to play with. Which results in her using her system to mistreat people, kill indiscriminately, steal whatever she wants, and harm everyone. So, like a giant jerk.
The author got me thinking that transmigrators are assholes, because later on there are other transmigrators wandering around doing this or that. And some of them have systems that they have to cater to in return for rewards.
The emperor arrests transmigrators when he comes across them, not wanting them to interfere with the world and the people. Because they’re all selfish assholes.
The vibe is that all the transmigrator girls wandering around are manipulative evil-doers.
And then, later, the main character and her hero "retire" and leave the throne to their son. And it’s like an interjoined side-story that switches to the perspective of a transmigrator girl from the modern world. And she has a system that gives her the mission of having the emperor’s child–whether he wants her to or not.
So she rapes him, and the system makes it all seem like a dream to him, and she runs off with his children to live her freedom life. And her reward is a space of her own, which she gleefully imagines using to steal everything she wants from whoever she wants.
Yet at the end, he finds her, realizes those triplets are his children, so he takes her back to marry her and be his empress. And that’s a happy ending?!?
There were still like 30 chapters after that wrapping up the stories of all the secondary characters, but I just had a bad feeling as I skimmed through the rest.
I really wish he would have chopped that bitch’s head off. She is a no good rapist and thief.
I know that part of the book was supposed to make me feel fond of her as a transmigrator girl in another world–I mean, why else would it have been from her POV?–but the earlier parts of the book in comparison just make me feel like she’s a terrible person that should have been punished. ESPECIALLY when it described the way he was feeling about her, which sounded a lot like he was being mind controlled by her system.
I feel as though that poor man had his mind taken and that ever since he met her, he did not have the free will to live his own life the way he wanted. Sure, he thinks he feels happy with her, but how much of that is real and how much is that her system FORCING him to love her?
I just feel gross about the whole thing. Ugh.
