Every once and awhile you can’t help wondering what it would be like to spawn.

I’ll be sitting, minding my own business, and I won’t be able to help thinking about having a baby. To grow a new life inside my body and have it move around, wriggling inside.

Then I think about what it’s like taking care of a living baby and it’s like, “Ugh!”

The concept of Having a Baby just kind of seeps back into the darker ocean that is my psyche, and I’m once again able to go about my daily life, gaily indulging in mindless hijinks.

Psych– The relationship between Shawn and Henry is a pretty powerful one.

A lot of the time it seems as though Henry is just trying to teach Shawn a lesson while spending time with him, while all Shawn wants to do is rebel.

And that’s why I like watching Psych. There’s so many deeper relationships going on between the characters, you feel closer to them and the show is more powerful. You have a father-son dynamic, a best friend dynamic, a partners dynamic, and a boss/employee dynamic. Every person across the board is covered, plus there’s a good mix of humor and ridiculousness.

Criminal Minds is one of those series’ that I’ll watch if it comes on, but that I don’t seek out. The relationship between the characters mostly happens off-screen, so even when little things pop out or are mentioned, they don’t mean a whole lot to me. I think it would be a much better show if they relaxed a little and maybe had an episode here or there with a little more relationship stuff/off hours stuff.

I don’t want to imagine that all FBI groups are always so stiff and robotic all the time. I’m pretty sure there’s some inter-personal stuff that happens in real life, and even on the show. Though it all happens off-screen, so it’s kind of hard to tell why Derek and Garcia are so close, though that’s how they act.

Shows like CSI have a good mix of seriousness/real life. Because any way you look at it, these are supposedly people at work. And I’m sorry if it sounds callous, but there’s a certain point where you’re just like “I can’t take this stuff so serious all the time or I’ll go crazy,” so you kind of relax and it’s just your job. Sure, you don’t want anyone to die or anything, but you’ve gotta live too.

So I think a real set of FBI agents would be able to have a joke here or there even in the midst of a really bad crime. Otherwise, they’d take everything so serious all the time, that they’ll end up eating a gun out of stress. It’s just one of those things.

I want to see the characters on Criminal Minds as being a bit more human. That way I’ll care when like Hotchner gets shot. I think it would make for more fandom fodder, which would add up to more viewers of the show.

Meanwhile, Hawaii Five-O is like all relationship stuff and pretty people, so fandom loves it. I, personally, am not that enthralled. I like a little plot with my porn, so Hawaii Five-O is a pass.

I haven’t been able to watch Merlin because I don’t want to start a show mid-series.

Eureka and Warehouse 13 ended up being more interesting than I thought they would be, though they’re not really my favorite. I was really into Doctor Who, but once they killed off David Tennant… I’m not a big fan of the new Doctor (10? 11? ?) so I haven’t watched that for awhile. I love Torchwood, but I don’t have the channel it’s airing on and I somehow managed to miss a ton of episodes, so there’s no way I could possibly ever catch up.

Anyways, there are some good shows out there, and there’s some real crap too. I much prefer stories with more plot than eye-candy. But I also like my shows to be well-dressed and conversant. I’m just shallow enough to prefer a good looking cast and scripts that aren’t too heavy.

Take Southland, for example. Great cast, great stories, but everything’s so heavy all the time… I would totally be into watching the episodes once, but I wouldn’t do it again. So I would be less likely to buy the show, choosing instead to watch them on TV and that’s all.
