Real Life

So basically, now I have a blog, a forum => http://harper-kingsley.1061646.n5.nabble.com/ <= and am working on making a webpage. In all, that’s a pretty full plate, amirite?

Don’t worry though. This blog here will continue to be what it is–a place where I spill out the inner workings of my mind when I feel like there’s something to spill. The forum will be a place where I can chat lightly with anyone willing to talk to me (I’m so lonely!), and the webpage will have individual pages for each novel/novella as they are published and will be a rather more formal setting than this blog or the forum.

UPDATES: Wrapping up editing on “Pulse of the City.” I know I said this before, but I got sidetracked (MAKING A FORUM!) working on “The Wedding” which should be coming out in a couple days as well. So in all, that’s pretty cool. “Pulse of the City” available tomorrow, “The Wedding” the day after, then I have to wrap up “The Honeymoon.” Very much of the good all around.

Well, it’s been a somewhat trying day.

I have been attempting to finish up the last edits for “Pulse of the City” so I can finally publish it, so of course today was the day when the Kids didn’t want to offer me any peace at all. In fact, they both went out of their way to get me into a spluttering miasma of rage.

Imagine, stepping out to call two kids in for lunch and finding the yard empty when they were right there a minute ago. Then when you frantically yell for them and run all over the place like an idiot… turns out their cousin was over next door so they decided to go play with him without asking. I was seeing red.

So as punishment for nearly giving me a heart attack, I gave them worksheet pages to do and assigned them each a book report… I have never seen so many spelling mistakes, grammar errors, or just plain nonsense since I edited “Little Boy Blue.”

I’ll get back to my editing, but I’m already aggravated and half-exhausted and just about ready to throw in the towel for the day.

Kids are hard.

So I was basically abusing the hell out of my new planner and a couple of things popped up:

Sakura Con is April 6-8.  That’s right, it takes place during the EASTER WEEKEND.  What kind of planning was that? Was there no other weekend available?  I mean, I’m totally going to go, but talk about your awkward scheduling.  I’ll have to dab The Kid’s tears with some of my new yaoi manga…

The Unbirthday I planned for 2012 caused a bit of a personal upset when I realized I scheduled it for May 5.  That’s right, Cinco de Mayo.  Do you know how hard it would be to get an available space at the park or anywhere else?  I had to reschedule to May 12.  I’ve got it planned where we’ll make a pinata, invite all of The Kid and The Girl’s friends, have a BBQ, and maybe add some games.  I’m also thrilled at the idea of funny hats.  Yes, I am a gigantic nerd.

I have done absolutely nothing today but watch TV while surfing the internet.  That’s what I usually do in my downtime, then it takes me a couple of days to get back into the swing of things.

Basically, I write 8400 words a day for 20 days.  Then I do a quick edit of what I wrote (the longer one comes later, but it goes faster if I’ve already cleaned up the worst of the mess.)  Then I take a few days to just lounge around and decompress.  I eat, sleep, watch TV, read porn (k/d), and play videogames (I love to kill stuff on “Dante’s Inferno,” or go brainless with “Spongebob.”)  I spend those few days living like the slacker teenager I barely remember.

Then I get back to work and start the cycle all over again.
