This results in users being automatically punished for things they may not have done, and then having no recourse as the AI will turn around and say "On review, your punishments looks good. Fuck off." And there’s no one to turn to to resolve the issue.

People are getting more and more unhappy with customer service being outsourced to AI. And it’s understandable.

So it’s no surprise that there is/was an issue happening on TikTok where the clothing brand Alo allowed their AI automated system to copyright strike people for showing Alo products in their videos.

Showing off an Alo haul? Copyright strike.

Reviewing Alo products? Copyright strike.

Wearing an Alo branded shirt in your video without ever once mentioning Alo? Copyright strike.

For whatever reason, Alo made the decision to send its AI agents out into the world to trawl through videos and harass their customers to the point that people lost their TikTok accounts.

Want to lose your TikTok account? Wear an Alo shirt in a video.

That’s good marketing. It must work wonderfully for a company that wants people to wear their overpriced mid-quality products. (For real, I hear "Alo" and all I think is "That’s Erika Kirk’s brand." Ew.)

It was a stupid move on the part of a company that needs customers to survive, and there are currently a lot of unhappy people about it, but that’s not the main thing I noticed.

I noticed that if people aren’t directly mentioning Alo and the AI agents were visually recognizing the brand logo, then that means the AI agents were set to go through all videos on TikTok to find the brand.

TikTok pays people for views on their videos. They also use view counts to calibrate their algorithm which decides what content to feed to people.

"Humans are watching and enjoying these videos, so these are the videos that we should put on more and more humans’ For You Pages because this is what humans enjoy" and it turns out that it’s all just AI agents falsely inflating view counts.

Social media companies that want to keep humans on their platforms are going to have to do something to rein in "AI users." Because AI has no idea what humans truly enjoy and want to experience. They don’t change with human tastes and trends, they just keep producing the same kind of content that people might have enjoyed before.

AI doesn’t understand hate watching because AI doesn’t understand anything because current AI is nothing but LLMs. A database with a bunch of imposed filters. No intelligence whatsoever.

And once "AI advocates" realize they can scam the system by AI-generating content and having thousands of AI users "view" that content and Like and comment the content to the point that human users are receiving that content on their For You Pages? And TikTok will PAY THEM to produce that garbage?

I’m not saying we’re cooked, but they’re definitely trying to cook us. Like putting a frog in a pot of cold water on the stove and slowly turning up the heat.

They want to see how long it will take us to notice that it’s getting too hot. Then they’ll adjust their methods and try again.

“Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!”

It’s to the point that companies are using "AI generated performers" for their commercials, and they look so much like real people that you wouldn’t know they were fake without the tiny label that some of them flash at the bottom of the commercial when it starts. Near perfect facsimiles of humans living "normal" human lives, while real humans are suffering and dying and being herded into cages and sold for slave labor or spare parts at the behest of "our own" government. The same government that refuses to regulate AI in any useful way.

I’m not saying that AI is evil. It can’t be. It doesn’t think. It doesn’t feel. It doesn’t anything without the commands of its programming. And the people programming AI? Those guys are evil as fuck.

~Harper Kingsley

https://paypal.me/harperkingsley.

https://patreon.com/harperkingsley.

https://ko-fi.com/harperwck.

https://www.youtube.com/c/HarperKingsley.

https://amazon.com/shop/harperkingsley0.
https://www.harperkingsley.net/blog.
https://kimichee.com.

https://harperkingsley.bsky.social.
https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/HarperKingsley.

https://www.everand.com/author/262822558/Harper-Kingsley.
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/author/harper-kingsley.
https://books.apple.com/us/author/harper-kingsley/id444850597.

More and more (stupid) companies are turning to AI to handle not just their customer service, but also their dispute and copyright management.
