Every time I take a shower or my brain is drifting toward sleep, I’ll remember some of the things that have (recently) happened in the real world and I’ll have thoughts and BIG EMOTIONS about them. So I feel like maybe my subconscious brain is urging me (most desperately) to share those recaps with others before I explode, or implode, or get spaghettified like I’m being sucked into a wormhole.

There’s just this sense that something terrible will happen if I don’t release these thoughts from my head. So that’s what I’m about right now.

That lady that spent 2 years harassing her daughter

If you haven’t followed the events that happened, there’s a Netflix docuseries, and a more in-depth video about it all by Rotten Mango. But basically, a teenage girl and her boyfriend were receiving abusive text messages from a "stranger." And the cops "weren’t able to do anything" because the texter was using a VPN. So that poor girl was harassed for TWO YEARS.

She was grossly sexualized, her looks were criticized in the worst way, she was threatened, she was told she should harm herself, all kinds of horrible things. And there was a ton of sexual content about the boyfriend. And the whole time they were like 14 years old. Just kids.

And things drag out horribly to the point where she and her boyfriend break up and he starts dating someone in another town… and his new girlfriend starts receiving the horrifying texts.

By the time the FBI get involved and IMMEDIATELY solve the case, that poor girl’s whole life is falling apart. She was tormented and tortured by the texter. She’d lost her boyfriend and all her friends, her every joy was basically destroyed, and all she had for support was her mom and dad. So she’s like clinging to her mom for protection and care.

And it turns out the abusive texter was her mom.

And I feel really bad for the girl. And I’m angry the mom didn’t get more prison time with harsher charges. Because there’s no way she’s not a sex predator with the things she was saying to and about the boyfriend.

The mom was clearly sex predatoring that boy.

I honestly feel like she saw her young daughter experiencing first love and she felt jealous because she wanted that boy. And she hated her daughter for having what she wanted, so she set out to ruin their cute little teen first love relationship, and in the midst of doing all that she also got a thrill out of sexually harassing that boy.

I’m just so angry that that woman got such a light prison sentence and that she doesn’t have to register as a sex offender because jeebus.

And it sucks for her family, who she victimized, because over the course of all her awfulness, she totally destroyed their lives. She stopped paying bills. She pretended she still had her high paying job when she’d been fired FOR FUCKING AROUND ON HER PHONE HARASSING HER CHILD. So they lost their house. They lost the storage shed which had all their stuff because she wasn’t making the payments.

Like, her husband was a dope for completely trusting her with the family’s finances, but you know, that’s understandable shit. For every "trad wife" abusive relationship where a woman has no savings or access to money, there’s a "traditional family" situation where "the man goes to work for a paycheck and comes home, and the woman handles all the money to maintain the household." So it’s somewhat understandable that he would accept that she was making all the payments she said she was making, especially if she had set all their bills to paperless and was having them sent to her email account.

But anyway you look at it, she’s a complete piece of shit.

Man paralyzed by the police

In Tucson, Texas, a young man was swatted by some asshole who was Big Mad over losing a video game, and the police busted into his bedroom through a window and shot him eight times, including into his spine. He was paralyzed by the police because some dude couldn’t handle sucking at a video game.

And the worst thing? He’d informed the police that the dude had threatened to swat him, and the police were like, "Okay, if a call comes in we’ll make sure not to bust into your house and murder you and your family." And that evening, a call came in, and the police didn’t shoot anyone. Yay!

But then, two days later, that same asshole called the police THROUGH THE NON-EMERGENCY LINE, pretending to be the victim, and said that his dad had a gun and had shot the victim’s sister.

So the police didn’t bother to check any records or anything. They just went straight to his house, used a shovel to break in the window, and went in and shot him a bunch of times. Because that’s totally not what you’re supposed to do if you’re competent at your job.

And now he’s paralyzed for the rest of his life.

And I feel like if you swat someone, you should be locked up in prison for attempted murder, because that’s what it is. You’re trying to murder someone.

The Rhode drop fiasco in Rhode Island

On "the lighter side of things," by which I mean, we live in a dystopia, the Rhode brand was going on tour to different places, and their first stop was Rhode Island where they basically tried to kill their customers. Allegedly. I mean, they weren’t "trying" to kill their customers or permanently maim them or give them skin cancer or anything, it’s just that there could be long-term consequences of that drop that won’t be seen or explored until like 20 years later.

And honestly, I don’t care enough about Rhode to give a single fuck about any of it. It’s just that the Rhode drop is a symptom of predatory capitalism AND overconsumption as a mental health issue.

Because seriously: NOBODY had to stay standing in line for 10 hours. At any point they could have left the line and went home. Got some water and some moisturizer. There were options to be had.

Yet there’s that inescapable sense of FOMO that kind of takes over your brain after you’ve been waiting for something for so long. Like, "If I leave, this line could immediately move forward and I will have given up my chance." And that everything was being shared on social media would later allow you to see that "Holy shit, I was right behind that woman. I would have gotten my ugly poop brown sweatshirt!"

And that was what was so crazy.

They weren’t lined up for free stuff. They were lined up to PAY $130 for a SWEATSHIRT in SUMMER. Some of those people were burnt to shit afterward because, for whatever reason, Rhode doesn’t have a line of SPF skincare. So they were out in the HOT HOT sun with no shade, very little water, no sun protection. Just raw dogging Mr. Sun for 8-10 hours straight. Just, brutal.

And speaking of people not using sun protection, there is a growing number of "influencers" (grifters, scammers, evil people) that are promoting the idea that DOCTORS (doctor of what? Botany? Philosophy?) say people shouldn’t wear sunscreen because sunscreen is poison.

And it’s like, "That’s deranged, but whatever gets you off, dude" EXCEPT a lot of those people are being paid by companies that sell supplements, peptides, MAGIC CREAMS that are supposed to de-age your skin. And like, the number one thing that ages your skin is sun damage. And sun exposure is cumulative. So…

They are profiting off of people fucking up their skin. So them offering "helpful advice" telling people not to wear sunblock and to lay out in the sun or use tanning beds is basically them purposefully creating a problem so they can sell their product.

It makes me think of "poiymarket," where people were being paid money to make fake ads supposedly for "polymarket," except the "L" was actually a capitalized "I". So you could look at the web address on the screen and every part of it was lowercase except for the "I" that looked like a lowercase "L." And young people thought they could make cheap or free bets and get thousands of dollars in return, except really from the way the betting works you would actually OWE thousands upon thousands of dollars.

Which, kids, is why we don’t give our direct banking information to betting sites. Because they can take your money. All of it. And even more.

And back to the Rhode drop debacle: there were thousands of people lined up FOR A SWEATSHIRT, and the pop up was only giving out 300 sweatshirts A DAY. So like, "Thanks for waiting 10 hours in the HOT HOT sun. Here’s a sheet of stickers and a sheet of temporary tattoos that match the color of your sunburn. If you want a sweatshirt, please come back and try again tomorrow."

And at the same time, just a short distance away, the "important influencers" were being wined and dined by Hailey Bieber herself. And all those invitees received a sweatshirt and like every product that was available FOR SALE at the pop up as a free door prize.

So like, people LINED UP for HOURS to GIVE MONEY to a BILLIONAIRE, while rich people were given special treatment and received all those expensive products FOR FREE just for showing up. And the bonus prize for all those people supporting capitalism? A higher risk of skin cancer. Because a ridiculous amount of them WEREN’T WEARING SUNBLOCK.

Hm.

~Harper Kingsley

https://paypal.me/harperkingsley.

https://patreon.com/harperkingsley.

https://ko-fi.com/harperwck.

https://www.youtube.com/c/HarperKingsley.

https://amazon.com/shop/harperkingsley0.
https://www.harperkingsley.net/blog.
https://kimichee.com.

https://harperkingsley.bsky.social.
https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/HarperKingsley.

https://www.everand.com/author/262822558/Harper-Kingsley.
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/author/harper-kingsley.
https://books.apple.com/us/author/harper-kingsley/id444850597.

Welcome to the Torment Nexus I feel like my life is in recap mode.
