ramblings

I do not need sudden tech innovations.

I need "slightly slower because it has to go through thousands of hours of testing before it’s open to the basic public" level of tech innovations.

I am a basic member of the public.

A normal fucking person. Such as that may be.

If you truly believe that we are all NPCs zombie-walking through our lives while you stand above us, laughing and having a good time?

Then why do you want to rile the zombies up?

Why do you want to cause a World War Z-mindless zombie attack to happen anywhere at all?

It’s weird to think that they’re living their lives as though they’re in a simulation. One where they have all the money and power to do anything they want at all. And they’re all choosing to be giant shitheads.

Whenever we’d play Monopoly, I would choose to be the hat because I liked the hat compared to the other game pieces.

There were only a limited number of pieces available at the time. If you had more people, the extras would be things like Sharpie cap or thumbtack or little torn piece of paper.

Our family never had the board game itself. So I only ever got to play it when I went somewhere else.

Other peoples’ families were being continuously indoctrinated into a lifestyle of being predatory capitalists.

I have not seen the modern Monopoly board game. I know there are different pieces, so I assume there might be additional rules.

Things like being able to give a renter some rent relief.

Like, the original board game of Monopoly that I was introduced to as a child involved a very cutthroat ruleset. As the rules were verbally introduced to me by a few years older "cousin", I don’t know how close to the written rules our gameplay was.

The game was you win if you end up with all the money and property.

And now, I wish that when we’d played someone had introduced the rule/idea that there didn’t have to be any losers of the game.

Everyone could play until every player had reached a livable existence. Because, like, "You’re playing with your friends!" Why are you trying to utterly destroy them?

As a child, there were lots of games of War where packs of kids would run around in the woods shooting fake weapons at each other.

And like, most of us grew out of that mindset. While others have fully immersed themselves.

Nothing is stopping you from playing with your friends in the woods!

Block off an area. Put out some markers. That way people wandering around don’t think you’re being suspicious. Boom.

You can be out there reenacting Lord of the Flies, or Logan’s Run or Battlestar Galactica or Highlander or whatever. Just get that energy out of your body.

You don’t have to handle your money like you’re out to win at Monopoly.

At any time you can choose to be a decent human being. A more than decent human being would be best, but we can accept you being normal with your money.

Why are you spending a fortune, ruining your reputation, and causing yourself to be a massively hated human being?

At any point you could just pause and really think about what you’re doing.

  • What the results are going to be in the future?
  • What other people will think about it?
  • What your legacy will become in history books?

And you can change the way you’re going.

At one point you were driving on a road with limitless paths ahead of you. Off ramps and direction changes. There was a whole wide world to enjoy.

But the more you oppress the people, the less roads ahead can be seen.

You don’t want to foresee yourself in a bunker with your dead partner contemplating ending your own existence. It might be better to turn back around.

It’s much better to see an orange grove that lets you enjoy the fruit and the occasional bottle of sparkling fruit wine. A swimming pool. A tennis court. A garage. A guest house. A lodge.

Living on a resort sounds wonderful.

To be able to go about your day and not have to worry. Not have to think about money because you can know that you have more than enough.

And nobody is angry at you.

All your debts have been repaid without creating new debts. And everyone walked away peacefully.

There’s no one yelling at you. And people still talk to you like you’re a human being, without that tepid obeisance or that raging hatred.

You can walk in and pick food off the buffet line.

You never have to worry that you’re ingesting someone else’s bodily waste.

There’s an opportunity for a good life.

If you just stop being evil and work hard to turn things around.

I don’t understand what giant ass bubble someone has to exist in as a rich-rich person to completely fail to surf the Internet.

They are so thoroughly encapsulated by the dreams of others that they have no awareness of the world around them.

To them, all those riches flashing by on their screens? That influencer culture that involves ultimate beauty and perfection? That’s their everyday life.

They don’t look at a beautiful necklace and sigh wistfully. "I wish I could get something like that. But it’s so expensive." They just buy it and it joins their other jewelry in their jewelry vault.

Meanwhiles, the non-rich person might save up a lot of money or come into a sudden lump sum of money, and they will give in to that white whale of a covetousness. Will "waste" that money and buy themselves something that will give them an amazing sense of joy.

And whether it was worth the money… to get rid of that aching sense of pure want… That is for the individual to decide.

But if you have never experienced that burst of joy because there has never been anything you have truly wanted?

That makes you kind of dangerous to the rest of us.

You don’t even know how you will respond if someone actually says No to you.

You probably need therapy to deal with your massive amount of wealth and how it can effect the way you deal with the people around you.

To be so entirely thoroughly rich that you can look at homeless people and never once think about giving them money.

They have mental processes that we simply cannot relate to, and that cannot relate to us.

They are being carefully maintained in their bubbles while the middle men grow bloated with wealth.

  1. I wish they’d popularize the original Landlord Game Monopoly was based on — created by a Georgist to show people that landlords are parasites who get rich by sitting on something they didn’t create.
