There’s a whole thing where Jody Foster and Brooke Shields were filmed as children doing adult things, and the public was rightly upset about it. To the point where those weird gangster movies starring toddler Jody Foster and a bunch of other toddlers can no longer be found. Or if they can be found, it takes a lot more work than anyone’s really prepared to go through.
And that’s good.
So the fact that PARENTS are able to use their CHILDREN to create problematic content, and there’s no real controls over it? Gross.
"It’s my child! That child BELONGS to me. I should be able to force them to WORK 70-hours a week making videos to SUPPORT THE FAMILY!"–And then the kid grows up and they have no money because all that "work" was not really counted as work because the children don’t have to be paid.
"But we can’t have the government stepping in to FORCE us to pay our own children! We made them. They OWE us for their very lives!"–You chose to have children. They should not be used as sources of content on the Internet or anywhere else.
They are CHILDREN.
I firmly believe that children should not be put on the Internet. Because there’s tons of perverts out there–including in government where they are effecting the laws to protect predators and to profit themselves–AND children DESERVE to have childhoods. They should not be used to create content by adults. ESPECIALLY considering there are very few protections put in place for "non-actor" children.
Like, you can only have a child actor work so many hours in a day. They are required to receive an education. They need to be fed. If there are any scenes depicting sex and violence, they are not in the room for the parts involving adults (like, a focus on the child saying their line, then the scene shifts to closeups of the adult(s), and it looks like it’s all happening in the same place, but really the scenes were filmed separately and put together in post-production. And anything involving "the child" is done with dolls or adult stand-ins, and even then there are limits to what can be depicted when it involves children). And all that is good.
There are stories that should be told from a child-perspective because they are the ones involved, but there should be a lot of care done when it involves actual children acting in those roles. Because they are children, and you are putting their faces on characters that experience terrible things. And people watching in the theater or at home understand that "Junie" is played by "Sally" and that none of it is real.
But with "family channels" and "family-related" content, those are children showing their real faces and having their real first names or whole names blasted on the Internet for the prurient interest of strangers, all to fatten the pockets of unfit parents. And it’s gross. It needs regulating. And the algorithms should NOT be allowed to push that content on people.
Children go on video sites under child profiles, and they were being recommended "family channel" content.
Like "Look at this family with nearly a dozen people all living in a bus, traveling across the country, not staying in any one place long enough to attract the attention of the local governments. They ‘homeschool’ their children in-between using them for 24-hour content farming. They create videos grooming and sexualizing their young children in return for money from strangers on the Internet, some of whom should not have any interaction with children whatsoever, whether in person or through video. But they’re really good people. They say they’re religious, so there’s no way they could be profiting off of questionable content involving their children. You’re only feeling those weird vibes because YOU have a dirty mind."
And then there was that Netflix documentary, and that one girl is now making private videos for pedophiles/ephebophiles/100% creeps. All for her mother’s financial benefit.
There’s so much gross stuff happening out there. And it sucks that a group of people took control of our government basically to hinder protections so they could keep on consuming content that involves real life children.
Like, they’ve got AI videos now direct-using social media companies’ AI-engines (Meta, X, Google, etc.) to create child porn. And the excuse is that it’s all AI-generated, so even if it’s hyper-realistic, no real children are involved. But this isn’t loli anime. This isn’t cartoonish drawings or anything like that. This is REAL child pornography being loaded into the LLM libraries and THAT’S what’s being used to create gross videos.
Those videos look real because they were built using images of real children.
So people making "family channels" and content farming their own children… They are gross on their own, and their content is also being used to generate AI grossness. Just ugh.
We need to go back to when ALL OF THAT STUFF was publicly reviled. Because it didn’t stop being disgusting. Perverts just got away with it for so long that they don’t think there will ever be consequences.
Like, there was a whole rape island out there. And all those people that visited the island and did HORRIBLE things have basically gotten way with it. And there’s nothing normal people can do if the government agencies that are supposed to be handling those cases are instead being redirected to pick up trash and harass civilians until the statute of limitations wear out.
It’s very disturbing. I don’t like any of it at all.
